The sculpture work of contemporary artist Jacqueline Metheny will be featured in Gather, a solo exhibition this fall at 709 Penn Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA. Metheny is one of several artists whose work will be shown as part of Pittsburgh’s month-long Re:NEW Festival, a collaborative effort to represent artists whose work explores themes of creative reuse and sustainability.

Metheny’s sculptures are constructed from salvaged fabric, thread, yarn, and wire. The artist uses a simple crochet stitch to build her forms, which constitute both simple and complex systems that are meant to explore the mass and assemblage of repurposed materials.

Gather: Sculptures by Jacqueline Metheny will run from September 9, 2016, to October 9, 2016, with an opening reception on Friday, September 23, from 5:30 to 9 PM. 709 gallery is located at 709 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222.
