David Gaither is a self-taught Georgia-based painter whose work will be shown at 511 Gallery in the fall. His expansive paintings blur the lines between abstraction and representation with geometric shapes in bright, bold colors.

Following the Tubman Museum's exhibition David Gaither: Growth & Expansion (on display through July 23, 2016), the museum is acquiring one of his works, The Grand Mural. Gaither will be at the museum on Wednesday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m. to present the painting. This work includes the large scale and vibrant colors that are characteristic of Gaither's works, and also features Spiritman, whose iconography was influenced by Native American art.

More information about the Tubman Museum, Growth and Expansion, and The Grand Mural can be found on the Tubman Museum website, at www.tubmanmuseum.com.
