Jacqueline Metheny
Jacqueline Metheny is a Connecticut-based fiber artist and sculptor whose work uses repurposed and salvaged materials such as wool, yarn, metal, binder clips, and wire. Her art centers around the construction and visualization of ordinary materials that gain value once formed into a sculpture. The art also contains an element of spontaneity in that they can be reassembled with endless possibilities. The artist’s work draws attention to abstract sculptures with a focus on materials and process as a method through which to consider contemporary art. Jacqueline Metheny has received her B.F.A from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in 1981 and her M.F.A from Hunter College, City University of New York in 1991. Her most recent exhibition was a dual show, Metheny + Brayton, at Trinity College.
